Apple is set to reveal a range of new products during its “Surprise and Shine” event on Wednesday, but a new set of product identifiers likely aren’t indicative of what’s being announced.
Device identifiers don’t say anything about a product or when it will release
Product identifiers tell you very little about a product and often leave you guessing until they’re found in official documentation for an already-released product. A list found in Apple’s backend shows 37 new hardware identifiers for iPhones, Macs, and other products, but nothing else.
According to the social media post from code sleuth Aaron Perris, these new identifiers appeared in Apple’s backend. While most are likely previously rumored products, at least one is a mystery.
