The following AlloyDB AI features are now generally available (GA):

  • Auto vector embeddings provide a scalable, automated solution for managing the lifecycle of vector embeddings for large-scale datasets, eliminating the need for manual reindexing or custom scripts. This feature keeps embeddings in sync with transactional data and now supports incremental refresh in manual mode, ensuring that embeddings are only generated for new or updated rows. Additionally, you can perform incremental table refreshes or migration up to 100x faster than traditional row-by-row processing using bulk mode, improving efficiency for semantic search and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).

  • AI functions integrate LLMs like Gemini to bring ‘world knowledge’ to your AlloyDB data and incorporate advanced semantic search and ranking capabilities directly into your SQL workflows. This feature includes out-of-the-box functions for filtering (ai.if), semantic ranking (ai.rank), generation (ai.generate), and forecasting (ai.forecast).

  • Experience higher performance in AlloyDB AI by utilizing array-based AI functions. You can perform batch processing of natural language prompts directly within your SQL queries, significantly improving efficiency for large-scale AI operations. Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for VMware

Announcement

Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for VMware 1.33.500-gke.63 is now available
for download. To upgrade, see Upgrade clusters.
Google Distributed Cloud 1.33.500-gke.63 runs on Kubernetes v1.33.5-gke.2200.

If you are using a third-party storage vendor, check the Google Distributed Cloud-ready
storage partners document to make sure the storage vendor has already passed the
qualification for this release.

After a release, it takes approximately 7 to 14 days for the version to become
available for use with GKE On-Prem API clients: the Google Cloud console, the
gcloud CLI, and Terraform.

Announcement

Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for VMware V2 (Advanced Clusters) versions 1.31
and earlier were missing a configuration step in the node startup script that
defined the Docker default bridge IP range. As a result, Docker defaulted to
using the 172.17.0.0/16 (and in some cases 172.16.0.0/16) address range.

If this default range overlaps with customer network infrastructure,
connectivity failures during cluster creation or operation can occur.

This issue has been resolved. The Docker default bridge IP for cluster nodes in
advanced clusters is now explicitly set to 169.254.123.1/24.

Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for bare metal

Announcement

In Google Distributed Cloud (software only) for bare metal versions 1.33.0 and later,
bmctl operations can fail to stream logs from pods to the local workspace,
causing empty or incomplete logs in bmctl-workspace/{CLUSTER NAME}/log directory.

This issue occurred because a recent Kubernetes library upgrade introduced a
required context parameter for pod log streaming. The bmctl tool was
incorrectly passing a context with a 10-second timeout, causing the log streamer
to terminate prematurely for pods with long lifecycles, such as Ansible runner
jobs.

This issue is resolved in the following versions:

  • 1.33.500 and later
  • 1.34.100 and later
  • 1.35.0 and later

If you use an affected version and require the logs for a failed or ongoing
operation, check logs using kubectl. If the cluster is accessible, you can
manually retrieve logs directly from the relevant pods using the kubectl logs
command.

It is recommended to upgrade to a fixed version to ensure that all bmctl
operation logs are correctly captured in your local workspace for troubleshooting
and auditing purposes
